Leaders for Tomorrow Foundation conducted its annual Development Festival – A Date with Development from 17th-19thMarch, 2012 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi.
The 3-day event, conducted in partnership with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, included a Leaders for Tomorrow Summit and 20 competitive events on the theme- ‘Role of Youth in Social Development’.
The Summit was a one-of-its-kind coming together of thousands of college students and youth from various walks of life to ideate and discuss the various important developmental issues with the leaders of our time.
The event was inaugurated by Shri. Vijai Trivedi , Chairman, Leaders for Tomorrow; Shri. Biraj Patnaik, Principal Advisor to the Supreme Court Commissioners on Right to Food and Shri. Binoy Job, Director of Media and Communication to the Prime Minister of India. The event also gave the youth and opportunity to interact with Hon’ble Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Dr.Farooq Abdullah.
Several competitive events were also organised which included Short Film Making, Ad –Mad, Social Business Plan Presentation, Street-play competition, Debate, Recyclable Art Contest, essay writing among several others. These competitions were organised in an attempt to ignite the social consciousness of the students.
This event has the unique distinction of being conceptualised, planned and executed by young leaders from various colleges of Delhi NCR and promises to be a unique testimony of what the youth can accomplish if determined to lead change.
