The Leaders for Tomorrow programme (LFT), which was first launched in 1995, is an annual development programme for middle to senior management grades in the Northern Ireland Civil Service, the Northern Ireland private sector and the wider public sector in the Republic of Ireland.
Who participates?
Each year, a group of around 40 middle managers from the Northern Ireland Civil Service, the Northern Ireland private sector and the wider public sector in the Republic of Ireland spend three weeks in Boston USA undertaking two weeks of academic study at Harvard University and one week of seminars and visits in the Boston area.
The Programme is designed around international best practice in executive education and development.
The prestigious John F Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts provides the education component, covering various themes including leadership development and change management.
The purpose of the third week of the programme is to help participants explore some of the concepts considered during the Harvard element of the Programme in the context of the challenges faced by key players in the public, private and voluntary sectors.
